The two communicate via hand-held radio, and the excellent voice work of Rich Sommer (of Mad Men fame) and Cissy Jones (who has voiced characters in numerous games, including The Walking Dead series and Destiny 2) helps the player bond with the characters and see them as real people. When Henry arrives in Wyoming and the view switches to first-person, we are introduced to Delilah, another lookout and Henry’s superior. The dialogue options presented through the game and the way the rest of the story unfolds are meaningful and satisfying. Years are displayed to show the passing of time, and this introduction to the game does much to paint Henry as a sympathetic figure dealing with a tragic situation. The story begins with Henry meeting and falling in love with his wife Julia, and it details their relationship through on-screen text and a handful of dialogue choices. Two clear strengths make Firewatch stand out: the writing and the voice-acting. The mysteries that develop over the course of the game add suspense and drive the story to an interesting but divisive conclusion. While the game is light on action and gameplay elements, the setting of the Shoshone National Forest in Wyoming during the summertime provides a beautiful space to explore. The plot revolves around a man named Henry who leaves his hometown of Boulder to become a fire lookout after his wife’s dementia becomes severe and she is taken back to Australia to live with her parents. and that's it.Originally released in 2016, Firewatch is a story-driven adventure game by developer Campo Santo. but ended up like some unfinished project. with a wasted potential to be something else. Great kind of "book", stunning visuals, buggy achievements (heh) and a nice journey through the forest. If you like walking simulators with story and a minimum of skill needed to progress, then it's a "story" not really a "game" for you. for a 6h hours non-rushed, completionist playthrough, but still worth the try to play at a discount.

I'm so grateful that I got this game as a Gift, cause I would never be able to afford this in a full price. otherwise, I wouldn't even care that much to even leave one. That's the only reason I'm leaving this game a positive review. and I hope that it's not over, and we will see something else from these developers in the future. but it seems like an incomplete piece of amazing work, which was rushed like it was lacking funds or something to portray the whole idea. If I would be honest, this game had sooo much potential to be even better. they could break at any time and stop unlocking. and achievements are bugged from 2016, so if you care about those, be careful. So It's a great, gorgeous journey, with confusing story. It's a game that you can just start, let it be. The game is nothing heavy, yet it grasp your emotions, nothing light, but wasn't utter dumb. It's confusing at times where the game is headed and where it's gonna end. It's like you would got a few pieces from any book at random intervals and put it together. I got a feeling while playing this, that the game didn't know how it should begin, how it should proceed and how it should end. There's a little to truly explore, a lot of thing to stumble on, and the navigating even though you got a map, it's a kind of wacky at first. and linear main objective at the same time, and it doesn't go well. the developers wanted to give a player an illusion of both. The world is created like it should be sandbox Open Word game with optional, yet still a main story, but in the end, you get linear, kind of buggy experience. for a game which seems to be an indie title. the voice overs and story was done outstandingly goood. the visuals despite simplistic are just gorgeous. I got this game as a Gift, and I'm utterly ashamed that the game was kind of unique, but still lack some crucial elements that I was both intrigued and frustrated at the same time while trying to enjoy this.
